All set for productivity awareness week 2013 |16 March 2013

Organised by the Ministry of Labour and Human Resource Development, the activities include a training on performance management in the workplace at the School of Business Management, University of Seychelles, TV spots, newspaper articles and a talk show on productivity related issues, and public speaking competitions at school level focusing on recommendations on how to improve productivity in key economic sectors.

Human resources managers from different working organisations have also been requested to organise activities during the awareness week to promote productivity. Those include among others an open day by the Indian Ocean Tuna on April 21; exhibitions on best practices by the Ministry of Health, Seychelles Public Transport Corporation, Public Utilities Corporation and Allied Builders; daily reflection by the National Human Resource Development Council (NHRDC) at the Citimart complex; a workshop on promotion of productivity by the NHRDC; and a productivity workshop for senior managers of Island Development Company.

The aims of these activities are to educate employers, employees, students and members of the general public on productivity challenges and promote best practices; encourage initiatives to increase productivity; emphasise the role and significance of productivity in economic and social development; and call attention to the possible factors that have an impact on productivity and propose priority strategies to address the challenges.

The Ministry of Labour and Human Resource Development is urging members of the public to take this opportunity to learn more about productivity to ensure that we have a workforce that is well-informed on the importance of being productive and self-sufficient and the effects this will have on the growth of the economy.
