Mr Patel officially opened the facilities and handed them over to the school’s head teacher Gina Balette in a short ceremony on Friday morning.

This was in the presence of the Cascade district’s elected National Assembly member Charles De Commarmond, chairperson of the school’s council Antoine Onezime and other PTA members as well as teachers and pupils.

Addressing the pupils, Mr Patel noted that he always feels immense pleasure and joy each time he opens such facilities which, to note, now exist in different schools around the country.
Mr Patel said he always shares the joy of the pupils and their teachers.

“When we share joy it is always a nice day,” he told the guests and pupils.
“The joy today is that we have something that we can really be proud of – a discovery and learning centre and also a play area which is a pleasure for all the pupils who would no doubt enjoy themselves and keep fit,” he said.

“If you are fit you can study well to be very bright pupils,” said Mr Patel, who called on the pupils to make the most of the facilities while at the same time taking good care of it.

Thanking Mr Patel for this remarkable and generous gesture Miss Balette handed Mr Patel a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the pupils and the school’s management.
All the books, toys, computer and TV sets have also been donated by Mr Patel.

Miss Balette noted the facilities are but one of the various projects which the school has been able to do and she thanked the school’s management and other partners for their support and the enthusiasm shown to ensure the school’s learning and other facilities are improved.

She said the project by Mr Patel is proof of the good relationship and collaboration the school has with its partners and she thanked the district MNA for the active role he played in making the project possible.

She added that there are many projects planned and one of her aims as head teacher is to work towards making Cascade school one of the best performing schools.
Cascade school has at present 341 pupils.
