President appoints new heads of four national bodies |28 March 2013

Veronique Laporte, STC’s new MD

Veronique Laporte is the new managing director of STC. She replaces Patrick Vel whose contract has ended. Ms Laporte was until recently the principal secretary in the Ministry of Health. She has a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and human resources and a Master’s Degree in business.

She has also been appointed the new chairperson of the Société Seychelloise d’Investissements (SSI), the agency which manages government shares in enterprises. She replaces Dr Steve Fanny on the SSI board.

Annie Vidot, acting MD of DBS

The acting managing director of DBS is Annie Vidot.  She has been employed at DBS for the last 18 years and has served as deputy chief executive officer since 2009. She holds a Master’s degree in Leadership & Strategy.

The outgoing managing director of DBS, Roger Toussaint, will be taking up an advisory post in the Ministry of Finance, Trade and Investment.

Daniel Gappy, SLA’s new CEO

Daniel Gappy, who was the chief executive officer of the FTC, becomes the new managing director of the SLA. He replaces Maryse Berlouis who will occupy a new position as special advisor in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Industry where she will be responsible for the setting up of an agency to oversee industrial properties.

George Tirant, acting CEO of FTC

George Tirant takes over from Mr Gappy as the acting chief executive officer of the FTC. He has a degree in theology.  He was the director of consumer affairs at FTC since 2011 and had earlier served as director of insurance supervision at the Central Bank of Seychelles.
These appointments take effect immediately.
