Illegal possession of turtle meat-Anse Aux Pins woman fined R5,000 |01 April 2013

The Ministry of Environment and Energy said this in a press release, adding that its officers received information on Tuesday October 16, 2012 that the woman was in possession of turtle meat.

A search warrant was executed at the woman’s residence by officers from the ministry and the Seychelles Police and 1.5kg of turtle meat was seized.

The press release adds that the ministry has welcomed the sentence, saying it sends out a strong message to all those involved in poaching activities.
 
The Ministry of Environment and Energy has thanked the Seychelles Police and members of the public for their support.

Members of the public are encouraged to use the Green line to inform the ministry on any illegal activities which they feel is threatening the protected species.
