The event, at Singapore's ‘Marina Bay Sands’, brought together divers , conservationists and media personnel to compare their accomplishments and also introduce underwater enthusiasts to new dive locations around the world.

Seychelles was given a stand manned by Ms Fideria on the main stage to showcase its submarine wonders, which include abundant coral life and diversity of fishes.

“This meant good exposure for Seychelles as more people have now heard of the destination and its underwater wonders. I think this is a good platform to showcase more of our destination in the future," said Ms Fideria.

Besides diving enthusiasts, the Seychelles team also met Imran Ahmed, a Nikon professional photographer who is currently working with the STB in making the first diving book with pictures of the marine life around Seychelles he has been taking.

Some of the photos he shot last year during the Subios – Seychelles underwater festival – were exhibited at the fair.

Another visitor at the Seychelles stand was Ai Futaki, a diving champion who holds two World Guinness Book records for the longest distance swim in a cave with one breath. Futaki  is the first woman in the world to swim 100 metres with fins and 90 metres without fins with one breath.

Ms Futaki visited Seychelles during the 2011 Subios festival along with another famous underwater photographer, Aaron Wong, who took some spectacular shots of her which were exhibited at the fair.
Ms Futaki works closely with a number of TV stations in Japan and is planning to return to Seychelles with a crew to feature the islands.

Ms Lablache said: “This fair can help put Seychelles on the world map of underwater sites and I am certain that with the help of the eminent personalities, we shall see more divers visiting us in future."
