Badminton: All-Africa Junior Championships-Seychelles team return empty-handed |27 April 2013

The team did not manage to win any medal to show for their efforts as they lost all their matches in group B in the team event.

Seychelles lost 0-2 in all their games – against South Africa, Botswana, Egypt and Nigeria. The gold medal was won by South Africa, while Nigeria collected the silver medal. Hosts Algeria shared the bronze medal with Mauritius.

In the women’s singles, men’s singles, women’s doubles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles, the eight Seychellois players – Javis Renaud, Christian Toussaint, Aaron Vidot, Fabian Gerry, Chlorie Cadeau, Stephany Henriette, Sheryl Lucas and Diane Paulin – could not reach the medals rounds.

The players were accompanied by coaches Gerard Bibi and Calix Francourt.
The medallists:

Men’s singles: gold medallist Nigerian Habeeb Bello, silver medallist Mauritian Aatish Lubah, bronze medallists Egyptian Youef Sabri Medel and South African Renshan Naidoo.

Women’s singles: gold medallist Dorcas Adesokan, silver medallist South African Lee Ann De Wet, bronze medallists Egyptian Naja Tarek Safey Eldin and South African Demi Botha
Men’s doubles: gold medallists Mauritian Aatish Lubah and Julien Paul, silver medallists Egyptians Youssef Ezze Eldin and Abdel Abdelhakim, bronze medallists Algerian Yousef Sabri Medel and Sid Ali Bouksani, and Nigerians Mustapha Muhammed and Habeeb Bello

Women’s doubles: gold medallists South Africans Lee Ann De Wet and Anri Schoones, silver medallists Nigerians Dorcas Adesokan and Augastina Sanday, bronze medallists Egyptians Doha Mohamed Hanny and Toka Tarek El Wazeery, and Mauritians Shamaa Sandooyea and Aurelie Allet

Mixed doubles: gold medallists Mauritians Julien Paul and Aurelie Allet, silver medallists Egyptians Youssef Ezz Eldin and Toka Tarek El Wazeery, bronze medallists South Africans Michael Jennings and Janke VD Vyer, and South Africans Cameron Coetzwer and Anri Schoones
