Representatives of the Marine Conservation Society Seychelles (MCSS) and a teacher Andy Alvis from the English River secondary school also went with them.

This once-in-a-lifetime chance to visit this island forms part of a marine education project entitled Academy by the Sea being run by the MCSS and fully funded by the Save Our Seas Foundation (SOSF).

SOSF will be hosting 16 secondary students on the island of D’Arros from April 27 to May 11, with the eight students being the first group.
They will learn about the various animals and habitats in this unique part of the Seychelles.

Snorkeling, fish and coral surveys, bird identification and learning about marine mammals will be some of the activities that the group will carry out.
They will build on their knowledge they gained from attending the ‘Academy by the Sea’ programme last August.

The location was kept a secret from the students by their parents and those going with them as to add to their adventure.
