Basketball: National League-Heat on a roll |14 May 2013

Beau Vallon Heat 68 ... Premium Cobras 62
The Heat have been impressive since the start of the season and are the only unbeaten side in the nine-team first division league.

Coach Guy Hall knew he had a tough task of leading last year’s second division champs Heat against his former team but he did it with a 68-62 scoreline as his new recruits played a big part in the win with 54 of the team’s total points for a fourth win in as many matches.

Jean-Paul ‘JP’ Camille finished with a game-leading 22 points including three treys, while Christopher ‘Toto’ Camille netted four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter for 12 of his 20 points. Centre Robert Léon added 12 points for the Heat who won the first, second and fourth quarters 15-12, 23-20 and 17-13. Despite the Cobras winning the third quarter 17-13 and getting 18 points from Steven Servina and 17 from captain Amadou Sylla they could not avoid a second defeat in four games.

Angels 55 … Baya 70
Baya got balanced scoring from captain and centre Timmy Adam (13 points), Dave Roseline (10) and Alex Baron (10) as they built their 70-55 victory against Anse Boileau-based Angels on a 10-point – 20-10 – first quarter lead.

Although they lost the second quarter 14-15, Baya came out rolling to take the third and fourth 15-14 and 21-16 for their third victory in four games for 7 points to shoot into third position behind the Heat.

Dominique Françoise finished with a game-high 27 points for Angels who are winless in three games.

PLS Hawks 117 … Drifters 48
A week after losing 73-82 to Baya, PLS Hawks rebounded and inflicted a heavy loss on Drifters.

With Nigerian all-rounder Alao Solomon scoring 38 points and centre Rodney Lozé adding 32, the Hawks became the first team to reach the century mark this year in a 117-48 win against the young Drifters team.

Veteran power forward Jim Domingue finished with 14 points, while player of the year Neddy Fanchette and Rodney Sinon added 13 apiece in the team’s big win – their second in three games for 5 points.

They won all four quarters 31-10, 33-17, 27-10 and 26-11.
Arnaud Arrisol scored 12 points to pace Anse Boileau-based Drifters who have just one win in four games.

MBU Rockers 73 … Mont Fleuri Dawgz 68
Pascal Bibi poured in 20 points, Nigel Sinon added 17 and Brian Morel 13 to lead MBU Rockers to a 73-68 victory against Mont Fleuri Dawgz.

This was the Rockers’ third victory in four games for 7 points and despite boasting the same win-lose record and points as Baya, they are second thanks to the head-to-head rule.
Kevin Romain finished with 16 points and Brian Agricole added 14 for the Dawgz who have two wins and two defeats to their name.

Meanwhile, in four second division matches, Cascade Bullets beat Wolf 72-62, Razors defeated Anse Etoile 67-58, Praslin Warriors earned a 68-55 victory against Razors and Anse Etoile outlasted Juniors 54-39.
