Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) vice-chairman Roch Henriette officially opened the course at the Maison Football, Roche Caïman yesterday morning in the presence of SFF executive committee members and two Fifa instructors – Marcelo Mendes and Sunday Okayi.

Mr Henriette said the course shows that the federation is not stagnant and is always looking at improving the future of football in Seychelles.

He urged those taking part to gather as much as they can in the course as it is important to have well-trained coaches and officials to develop the sport.

Marcelo Mendes, who is the instructor for the coaching course, said he is pleased to see that the football federation is looking to develop beach soccer in Seychelles.
As for Sunday Okayi, who is working with the referees, he spoke of his joy to see women among those attending the course.

The course will run until Friday May 17 and the following day (Saturday May 18) the SFF will organise a tournament at the sand pitch near the Astroturf field, Roche Caïman.
