New project aims to block Aids early |15 May 2013

The project – funded by the National Aids Trust Fund – has been initiated by the Everlasting Love Ministry (ELM) which is a non-governmental organisation founded in 2010 with the vision of gathering the youths of Seychelles and bringing love and hope to all.

It aims to pull the young people away from negative lifestyles and restoring their moral and spiritual values.

Chairperson of the ELM Jude Fred said the project will help the ministry achieve this aim.

He launched the project as well as a poster competition yesterday at the Mont Fleuri National Theatre in the presence of social affairs principal secretary Linda William-Melanie, chairperson of the Liaison Unit for Non-Governmental Organisations Marie-Nella Azemia, ELM members, pastors and students.

The poster competition is open to youths aged between 12 and 19 years old and the deadline for registration is June 30.

All posters should be submitted by October 18 and those wanting more information can call telephone number 2565846.

As part of this project, forums will be held on Mahé, Praslin and La Digue as well as holiday and afternoon sessions on Wednesdays at the Roche Caïman community centre from 3pm with students aged between 12 and 19 years.

During the ceremony, well-known local artist Smash Kid and Nickson Farabeau performed the theme song entitled Prevansyon i pli bon ki gerizon.

Mr Fred said the ELM’s vision is aimed at seeing the moral and spiritual values restored in the youths of Seychelles.

“Appropriate measures need to be put in place so that this generation is saved. I call on all concerned with these situations to deeply engage now more than ever to address this call,” he said.

He thanked the Ministry of Health through the National Aids Trust Fund in approving this project, to bring prevention against HIV/Aids.

Mr Fred also expressed his gratitude towards the Ministry of Education for their support towards this project.
