Another R45,000 for disaster relief fund |17 May 2013

Chairperson of the fund Lekha Nair accepted the donations yesterday during a short ceremony at State House.

Harini and Company has given R10,000, Providence Redeem Centre has donated R10,000 and Jouel R25,000.

Also present at the ceremony were the Honorary Consul of Mauritius Dr Nirmal Jivan Shah and representatives of Vijay Construction.

A US $100,000 donation from the Mauritian government and R500,000 from Vijay Construction  helped the fund reached the R44 million mark.

Mrs Nair thanked those who have contributed towards the fund, adding that the partnership with the private sector is greatly appreciated.

She said out of the R44,045,000, a total of R16.5m has already been spent.
