The National Assembly resumes today

The Minister for Labour and Human Resources Development Idith Alexander will also be present at the sitting to answer an urgent question by the Leader of Government Business, Marie-Antoinette Rose.
The question will focus on what the government is doing in collaboration with the private sector, to remedy the situation whereby local pick-up drivers have raised concerns regarding employment opportunities in relation to those of foreign pick-up drivers.

The Assembly will also consider two motions.

The first motion will be tabled by Wilby Lucas, elected member for Baie Lazare. Through the motion he is calling on the government to establish a more effective system which will permit the Office of the Registrar General to deliver a better service through modern technology and within a reasonable timeframe.

The second motion will be tabled by Beguitta Jeannevol, elected member for Mont Fleuri. Ms Jeannevol is requesting the authorities to review laws governing small businesses to allow those who are interested in launching small businesses to be able to do so.
