Competitive weekend across volleyball scene |21 May 2013

In the only Space 95 women’s division one match played, La Digue took on Praslin Volleyball Club (PVC) on La Digue. It took four sets and one hour and 43 minutes for PVC to succumb to defeat on a 1-3 set score. La Digue looked to be heading to an easy victory when they won the first two sets 25-18 and 25-9, but PVC fought on to win the third set 25-22. La Digue players regained their composure in the fourth set to end the match in four sets on a 25-16 score.

Four Kokonet women’s division two matches were played, with Saints United winning twice in two days. The first was a 3-1 (25-17, 19-25, 25-14, 25-17) win over Mont Fleuri in 1 hour 21 minutes on Saturday, followed by 102-minute victory over Port Glaud on a tighter 3-2 (25-20, 22-25, 21-25, 25-18, 15-4) score at the La Promenade Gymnasium the following day.

In the other games, Island Girls took on Bel Ombre at the La Promenade Gymnasium on Saturday. Island Girls grabbed victory in four sets on a 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 25-17, 25-11) score in one hour 27 minutes, while St Louis Bombers and Ephelia Resort played out a five-set thriller which lasted 1 hour 42 minutes. St Louis Bombers eventually came back from two sets down to claim victory on a 3-2 (20-25, 15-25, 25-19, 25-20, 15-13) score.

Two games took place in the Kokonet men’s division two, with Baie Ste Anne Spikers sneaking to a narrow 3-2 (19-25, 25-22, 25-23, 18-25, 15-12) win against La Digue. The match lasted one hour and 34 minutes.

Juniors had an easier time against Airwaves, winning 3-1 (25-16, 15-25, 25-22, 25-11) in 1 hour 14 minutes.
