Athletics-‘Around the world in 80 runs’

Simon MessengerHowever, this article has nothing to do with the adventures of Phileas Fogg and his trusted valet Passepartout. This is about the journey of Simon Messenger.

Mr Messenger is passionate about discovering the world and he enjoys running. He therefore decided to put the two things he loves together. Hence, his plan is to travel across the world in not 80 days, but in 80 runs.

The plan is to discover the world by running 80 races in 80 different locations around the world. Having already ran the Edinburgh Rock ‘n’ Roll half-marathon on April 14, 2013 and the Prague international marathon on May 12, 2013, the journey is already well on its way for the 27-year-old. Next up, is Seychelles.

As he only decided on embarking on the ‘Around the world in 80 runs’ in April, Mr Messenger missed the Eco-Healing marathon in February this year. He has therefore decided to run an unofficial half-marathon in early June (between June 6 -13), during which time he will be in the country on his honeymoon.

As Mr Messenger is documenting his adventures on his on-line blog, he has requested that anyone who is interested in running alongside him in the half-marathon to come forward and be part of this unique experience.

Those who wish to take part can contact Giovanna Rousseau on 2722333 or on e-mail address; highlevelsports@seychelles.sc or visit her office at Stad Linite for more information. You may also visit Simon Messenger’s website (www.aroundtheworldin80runs.com) to get more information.
