Guests viewing the exhibition

This was one of the main points highlighted in the opening address delivered by Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St Ange when launching the FetAfrik 2013 yesterday at the National Cultural Centre.

Among those present at the launch were Designated Minister Vincent Meriton, Minister for Natural Resources and Industry Peter Sinon, leader of the opposition in the National Assembly David Pierre and other members of the National Assembly, high government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, African nationals living in Seychelles and guest performers from Africa.

A new book entitled Zistwar Soungoula was launched during the ceremony, after which those present were given an overview of what it entails by Steven Rose.
The event was also graced by the presence of Masai performers from Kenya who sang and danced for the crowd.

After the launch, guests were invited to view an exhibition by the Nelson Mandela Centre for African Culture in Mauritius.

The exhibition pays tribute to the heroes and intellectuals of African descent who have contributed in the academic field, music and the press.

An African bazaar was also opened whereby African nationals are exhibiting and selling a number of products from the continent.
The event ended with performances by members of the African community living here.
