STB gets Dutch press better acquainted with Seychelles |01 June 2013

Journalists representing segments such as lifestyle, travel and feminine interests were present at the meeting jointly hosted by STB's European director Bernadette Willemin and Seychelles' honorary consul in the Netherlands, Bart Maussen.

The diversity and variety of the islands' products were highlighted. These include the fact that the 115 islands are granitic and coralline and all have special physical features and characteristics, though they all share a significant number of rare fauna and flora.

The white sandy beaches, hugged by huge granite boulders, are a special feature of the main islands.

"Though the Dutch market is a small one, there is great potential for Seychelles, especially now with the launch of Etihad flights to Amsterdam, which will provide more air access to the destination," Said Ms Willemin.

Year to date statistics reveal that 600 Dutch visitors had arrived in Victoria by May 19 this year, compared to 540 for the same period last year.

She added that STB's objective is to continue to increase its presence and visibility on this market through dedicated activities for both trade and potential vacationers in which the media and honorary consul will be very much involved.

Also present at the event was the Etihad European director, Joostden Hartog, who had the opportunity to brief the press on the newly launched Etihad flights linking Amsterdam to Abu Dhabi and Seychelles.
