Country gears up for National Day

Activities to mark this auspicious occasion starts as early as Friday this week with the official opening of the Ile Perseverance primary school, which is already up and running since the beginning of the first term of this year. The official opening ceremony will kick off at 10am.

That same day at 2.30pm at State House a new book entitled Seychelles Economy, which has been published by the World Bank, will be officially launched.

The same evening starting at 7.30pm at the International Conference Centre (ICCS), there will be the grand premiere of a musical theatrical piece entitled Pa Joe. Guests will have the pleasure to see unfold  and to follow the evolution over time of our way of living through different musical interpretations by  our singers and musicians. A number of well known local artists such as Patrick Victor, David Andre, Joe Samy to name but some are working together to realise the musical.

The public will have the chance to see the musical show at the ICCS on Saturday June 15 starting at 7.30pm, on Sunday June 16 starting at 3pm and on Monday June 17 starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the show are already on sale at Tanmi’s office at Pirates Arms.
On Saturday June 15 at 10am the new Anse Royale Hospital, a donation from the People’s Republic of China, will be officially opened.

The following day, Sunday June 16 at 10am, the much awaited 2nd national show will open at NSC Hall at Roche Caiman. The national show will remain open the whole day on June 17 and from 10am until 4pm on June 18.

The Port Victoria wind farm project will be officially inaugurated at 9am on Monday June 17 and in the afternoon of the same day the new Palais de Justice on Ile du Port will be officially opened. 

The highlight of the National Day activities, which is the National Day parade, will take place starting at 6pm at Stad Linite on June 18. This will include the traditional address by the Head of State, President James Michel, the parade display and a float display by different groups.
