President Michel congratulates new Australian Prime Minister |28 June 2013

In a congratulatory letter sent, President Michel conveyed the support of the government and people of Seychelles in taking forward the excellent bilateral ties between the two nations:

“I look forward to working with you and your government as we continue to strengthen the important bilateral relationship between Seychelles and Australia. To continuously cement and develop this relationship, which you helped to build, is an unswerving policy of my government.”

The President added that their shared ideals of peace, security and sustainable development in the Indian Ocean region and beyond would continue as the foundation of success for both nations:

“Australia has always been a friend of the islands and the various partnerships that we have built across a variety of fields such as in education, defence, environment and culture have added value to our aspirations of building a better tomorrow for the people of Seychelles.”

Prime Minister Rudd was sworn into office yesterday.
