Seychelles delegation takes part in UN-led Somali counter piracy events |28 June 2013

Technical advisor Philippe Michaud and military attaché, Major Edward Anacoura, both with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are taking part in meetings to discuss issues of maritime economy, governance and rule of law, among other crucial related sessions.

Their involvement is part of President James Michel’s commitment to address the scourge of piracy, not just on the open seas but at the root causes on the ground.

The Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and Home Affairs and Transport have pledged support to the Somali government in developing the local economy through the fishing industry as a means of providing opportunity for the gainful employment of Somali nationals and creating a sustainable industry for the development of the nation as a whole.
