Busy Signal in Seychelles-Reggae star calls on culture minister |04 July 2013

Busy Signal was in Seychelles for two live concerts (see article below). Considered as one of Jamaica’s most promising singers of the new generation, Reanno Gordon, better known by his stage name Busy Signal, paid a courtesy call on Minister St Ange soon after his arrival in the country on Saturday morning.

Mr St Ange was the first high level official the artist met on his short visit to Seychelles.

The Jamaican dance hall reggae artist said he “is honoured to be in Seychelles’’ because it “feels like he is back home”. 

Jimmy Savy, chief executive officer of the National Arts Council who accompanied Busy Signal on the courtesy call, talked about the “magic” that Busy Signal’s reggae version of “The Gambler” created in Seychelles.

Reacting to Mr Savy’s comments, Busy Signal said he didn’t think that he would be the chosen one to redo that song. The song is originally written by Kenny Rogers.

“When I was approached by Kenny Rogers to do that song I was very nervous. I surprised myself with this one,” Busy Signal said.

Mr St Ange thanked Busy Signal for taking time to meet him. He has extended an invitation for Busy Signal to take part in the third edition of Carnaval International de Victoria in April 2014.

Basil Bouchereau, the man behind getting Busy Signal to come Seychelles, also accompanied the Jamaican artist to the meeting with Minister St Ange.
