Launch of Airtel Rising Stars programme today |05 July 2013

Social Affairs, Community Development and Sports Minister Vincent Meriton, Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) chairman Elvis Chetty, Airtel Seychelles country manager Vikram Sinha and other officials from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Community Development and Sports, the SFF and Airtel will be present for the launch ceremony at Stad Linite at 4.30pm.

The Airtel Rising Stars programme focuses on identifying and nurturing budding football talents from the grassroots level onto the international stage. It also provides a platform for up-and-coming young footballers below 17 years old to showcase their talents to leading scouts and coaches. The programme targets both boys and girls between the ages of 13 – 17.

The Airtel Rising Stars programme in Seychelles is being run in collaboration with the SFF with the support of English Premier League champions Manchester United and Samsung.

Through the programme and tournament, Airtel Seychelles is offering two talented youngsters the opportunity to compete and attend a top notch football clinic in the Democratic Republic of Congo run by Manchester United, one of the top clubs in the world providing excellent technical expertise.

Founded in 2011, the Airtel Rising Stars programme already exists in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Chad, Congo-Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of Congo, Niger, Madagascar and Gabon.

Airtel Rising Stars is a youth football initiative undertaken by Airtel Africa.
