New court and sporting gear for President’s Village

Sponsors Vijay Construction and Eden Island came together to work on the project, which they believe is a wonderful way to give back to the community.

The donation was officially handed over on Friday to the First lady, Natalie Michel, who is the chairperson of the Seychelles Children’s Foundation, a charitable organisation which aims to protect and support children needing special attention.

“The court will come to great use, as it will help the children to do whatever they like to do. Thank you so much, and I say this on behalf of the President’s Village and the children themselves. Unfortunately they cannot be here this morning as they are all at school, but we know they are very excited to have this new court,” Mrs Michel said.

“It is my pleasure to do something that benefits society, but especially for the children here at the President’s Village, who otherwise would not have access to this kind of facility,” said Vijay Patel, the owner of Vijay Construction.

“It’s a joy for the children, but it’s also a joy for us that we are joining hands to bring smiles to the children’s faces.”

Craig Heeger, chairman of Eden Island, added that he considered it a privilege to be able to contribute in a small way to the happiness of the children at the President’s Village.

“This is a journey, it’s not a destination and we are already talking about the next project that we will be undertaking here.”

The two companies were presented with paintings by a fifteen-year-old resident at the village, Kimburlly Larue. She did the two paintings in her spare time, and took pleasure in giving the two corporate sponsors their tokens of appreciation.

This is not the first time the two companies have worked together on projects to benefit the children’s home. Vijay Construction and Eden Island have previously collaborated on the elevation of the boundary wall of the village, among other initiatives, and they plan to continue to work together on more corporate social responsibility programmes in the future for the benefit of the children.
