Football-Players on the move

MOUSSIKOUE … The Lions’ Gabonese recruitThere have been at least two high profile transfers involving foreign players who have joined first division clubs who are aiming to reinforce their squads for both the Airtel Cup and second round of the Barclays league.

Firstly, newly promoted The Lions have been busy in the transfer market after a dip in form in the opening round of the Airtel Cup.

The Cascade-based club have brought in a midfield playmaker in the shape of Gabonese Tony Moussikoue who at 22 years old was plying his trade in Lesotho where his team Bantu FC finished as runners-up in the first division league.

Moussikoue told Sports Nation that he was keen to move here when he received this offer from coach Gavin Jeanne and is hoping he can be a real asset for The Lions.

“I wanted to come help coach Gavin and try to be the best player in the league so that I may get the chance to move to the Maldives league in the future,” the midfielder told Sports Nation.
Moussikoue’s arrival means The Lions have two foreign players. The other is Malagasy Antonio who has failed to impress since his arrival.

The Lions have also added St Michel’s young midfielder Leeroy Mathiot who has joined them on loan as he looks for more playing time. Their other recruit is SMB’s defender Marcus Cedras.

La Digue-based La Passe have also opted for a Malagasy defender in the shape of Jean De Dieu Tsimialona from FC Tana to replace Tholix Jean who is unavailable with a knee injury.
However, La Passe have released former Quincy striker Alex Dugasse who has moved to St Louis Suns.

There were rumors that Trevor Poiret was to leave St Louis Suns to link up with La Passe but St Louis Suns’ chairman Naidu said he has decided to stay put and that the team have not signed a Kenyan striker who was on trial with them.

As for defending Barclays league division one champions St Michel they have allowed Wilnes Brutus to go on loan with second division St John Bosco and Daniel Maillet has also returned to his old stomping ground at Northern Dynamo.

St Michel though have re-signed Trevor Vidot, their former youth player, who was with St Francis.
Hopefully these transfers will help to boost the race for the different titles on offer.
