First Lady tours refurbished President’s Village

Mrs Michel is guided on a tour of the village to inspect the work that has been done

The long-term project to improve the living condition of the residents and create a more conducive and safe environment for both residents and staff working at the President’s Village, started in August 2010.

The intensive renovation work concentrated mostly on upgrading the six houses, the dining room, the administration block among other specific areas.

A lot of work has also been done to improve the facilities – both indoor and outdoor – including the landscape of the President’s Village for the improved comfort and safety of the children.

The major renovation and refurbishment work has been made possible thanks to the generous contribution and active involvement of sponsors, including the Seychelles government, the private sector, civil societies and other benefactors.

Now that all the work has been completed at the President’s Village, the Foundation is re-energising its efforts on management, capacity building of staff, care of the children, as well as looking at the priority needs of the three other children’s homes and ways to better help them.
