Football: Cup competition-Intelvision presents cheque to SFF

SFF and Intelvision representatives witness the cheque hand-over ceremony

The Intelvision Cup has replaced the Land Marine Cup after Land Marine pulled out its sponsorship at the end of last year.

In a cheque presentation ceremony yesterday afternoon at Stad Linite, Intelvision acting chief executive Reza Jaro presented a cheque for R350,000 to Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) chairman Elvis Chetty.

The draw for the Intelvision Cup competition was made yesterday afternoon in front of SFF executive members and representatives of Intelvision.

In a short speech after the cheque presentation, SFF chairman Chetty said he was looking forward for this cooperation as they continue to develop this sport.

“On behalf of the SFF, let me take this opportunity to welcome this initiative by Intelvision to team up with the football family. It is a splendid opportunity and we look forward for this partnership for many years to come. We would like to thank you for helping in the development of football,” Mr Chetty said.
For his part, Mr Jaro expressed his company’s pleasure in teaming up with football.

“We are pleased to be part of this venture as we look forward to an exciting tournament,” Mr Jaro claimed.
At the end of the presentation Mr Jaro told Sports Nation that his company has been associated with sponsoring sports for sometime such as during the Indian Ocean Island Games.

“We saw the need to sponsor football especially as we show a lot of football on our cable network and we know that there are lots of stars here and we hope we can promote this sport,” Mr Jaro told Sports Nation.

As for the draw, defending Land Marine Cup champions Anse Reunion will meet second division side SMB in the top half of the draw which also includes The Lions, St Francis, St Louis Suns, LightStars and Northern Dynamo.

The pick of the fourth round clash though will surely be the match pitting La Passe against Côte d’Or, both drawn in the second half of the draw.

2012 Barclays league division one champions St Michel kick off against Baie Ste Anne in a pool which also includes St Roch, Mont Buxton, St John Bosco, Foresters as well as Côte d’Or and La Passe.
This competition will kick off next month and the finals are expected to be played in late November.
