Seychelles-India Day Society thanks partners |21 October 2013

The Indian high commission and the Seychelles-India Day Society organised a reception on Friday to thank partners for their contributions in making the event a real success.

Among guests present at the reception, which was held at the Wharf Hotel, were Tourism and Culture Minister Alain St Ange, Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Paul Adam, Indian high commissioner Thanglura Darlong, partners of the Seychelles-India Day Society and its members.

Mr Darlong and the President of the Seychelles-India Day Society, V.K Ramani, gave the partners a certificate as a token of appreciation.

“I will like to take this opportunity to thank you who have gone out of your way to make the first ever Seychelles-India Day celebrations  successful,” Mr Darlong said.

He also seized the opportunity to thank Ramu Pillay and his group for bringing India to Seychelles through the wonderful art work of the India Gate.

“Today is the time to salute the partners and all the volunteers who came forward and put shoulders together to make this event successful,” Mr Ramani said.

“We are now being challenged to surpass what we have achieved this year,” Minister St Ange said.

“This year we saw the India Gate, maybe next year we will be enjoying the beauty of the Taj Mahal,” the minister said.

Taj Mahal is an immense mausoleum of white marble, built in Agra between 1631 and 1648 by order of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favourite wife. The Taj Mahal is the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage.

Seychelles-India Day celebrations took place from October 4-6 and saw the participation of a host of famous Bollywood stars and other Indian celebrities in the fields of cinema, music, dance and culinary art.
