Public warned against consuming water from unknown sources |23 October 2013

The Public Health Services is reminding the general public that only PUC Water Division and licensed bottled water manufacturers are mandated under the law to supply and sell water intended for domestic use and drinking purposes.

No other person/agent apart from the designated bowsers contracted by PUC and retailers for bottled water, approved and monitored by the Public Health services, are allowed to sell or supply water to the public.

The advisory follows reports that certain individuals are selling water from bowsers in Perseverance, and possibly elsewhere, without permission. The water is from unknown and unapproved sources and therefore untreated and potentially contaminated.

The Public Health Services has said that legal action will be taken against any persons/agencies found engaging in such illegal activities.

The public is being reminded that there are so many health risks associated with using water from unknown untreated sources for domestic purposes e.g. drinking, cooking, and they should not put their health at risk by using these unsafe water sources.
