Banyan Tree rewards long serving staff |04 November 2013

A special ceremony was hosted recently for a group of 29 workers of the Banyan Tree Seychelles resort who have worked for the hotel for five and 10 years.

The event was hosted to reward and thank them for having devoted these years with the resort.

The reception was graced by the presence of principal secretary (PS) for tourism Anne Lafortune, the resort’s general manager Frank Wesselhoefft, Seychelles Tourism Board’s director for human resources Jenifer Sinon and several Banyan Tree Seychelles resort staff.

Mr Wesselhoefft had words of thanks for these devoted workers and congratulated them for such achievement.

He added that he is proud to be part of the Banyan Tree family and expressed words of gratitude to the employees for contributing towards the resort’s many successes.

A group of 17 employees which includes both local and expatriates were rewarded for having spent five years at Banyan Tree Seychelles resort while 12 others received rewards for having clocked 10 years.

Serge Joseph thanked the resort’s management for their continuous support in helping the workers to deliver their best at Banyan Tree Seychelles.

He also urged his fellow work colleagues to see the positive side of things during challenging times at work.

Speaking to Seychelles Nation, Mahesh Rajapaksha, who works in the engineering department, said he has enjoyed his 10 years working for Banyan Tree.

“This is my first job outside Sri Lanka when I came here I thought I would feel lonely but the people here are friendly so I have adapted well,” he said.

Mr Rajapaksha added that the only challenge was the language barrier, but he has overcome it.

“I love my work and I love this country, I feel motivated to continue working here,” he said.

Another 10-year awardee, Julina Elizabeth, said she is happy to have served a decade at Banyan Tree resort.

Mrs Elizabeth who has won the best worker of the month award four times, added that it shows that Banyan Tree appreciates her work.

“I thank the Lord for giving me the strength to keep working because it is not easy to work in the hotel industry,” she added.

She said one has to persevere and be devoted and make a lot of sacrifices.

The senior management staff house employee said to reach 10 years in a job, you need to have patience and love for what you do.

“Challenges are always there, but you need to be courageous enough to overcome them.”

After the ceremony, a sumptuous buffet was served and the group Fame entertained those present.
