UAE donates to Seychelles orphanages |05 November 2013

Children of all ages from the President's Village, Foyer de La Providence, Foyer de Nazareth, and Foyer de La Solitude have received clothes from the ‘Dress One Million Needy Children’ campaign.

The children received the clothes during a brief ceremony held at the President's Village in Port Glaud last week.

The ‘Dress One Million Needy Children’ campaign was launched in July by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai.

The delegation who visited Seychelles was led by Dr Hamdan Musalam Al-Mazrouei, chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endorsements, and also comprised members from the UAE Red Crescent, the implementing organisation of the campaign.

Noella Gonthier, chief executive officer of the Seychelles Children's Foundation, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the delegation and thanked them for the donations.

The children enthusiastically welcomed the delegation with songs and were happy to pose for photos as they received their gifts.

Dr Al Mazrouei said the campaign has already reached the 1 million target and is now aiming to double this figure.
