Single mothers gain budgeting skills |15 November 2013

In the society today there are different types of family and nowadays we can see a lot of single parent families. And some may agree that being a single parent and raising children on your own might be a daunting task indeed.

Nou la pour ou is a non-government organisation (NGO) whose action plan aims to carry out activities identified as being top priority such as feeding the hungry, street care/evangelisation, attending to single mothers and neglected children.

Barclays Bank, with the collaboration of the NGO Nou la pour ou, has identified 10 single mothers who live at Perseverance to extend their awareness on budgeting. This activity, which took place last Saturday, formed part of the Make a Difference Day (MADD) activities that Barclays Bank organises to try and help the less fortunate.

During the activity the bank’s staff got the chance to advise and help the mothers to identify and prioritise their needs.

The staff also donated household items and house materials to the mothers.

All staff who took part in the activity did so voluntarily.
