Cable and Wireless hosts health education campaign |19 November 2013

As part of activities to mark its 120th anniversary, Cable and Wireless Seychelles (CWS) on Saturday hosted a health education campaign on its

premises on Revolution Avenue, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Health.

The activity which aimed at educating the company’s clients and the general public on the need of good health, had brought together various health services namely the Pediatrics Unit, Pharmacy, Occupational Health, Physiotherapy Unit, and the Les Cannelles Wellness Centre.

Visitors to the different stands had the opportunity to discover the various services offered by the Ministry of Health, carry out blood pressure and diabetes tests as well as receive advice from health professionals.

According to Cable and Wireless marketing manager Terry Servina, the activity was an initiative of members of staff within the CWS Foundation which with the slogan ‘A helping hand for a strong community’, wishes to reach out to society.

He added that activities commemorating the celebration of the company’s anniversary are client and community centered, aimed at giving back to the community part of what the company has gained.

He however described Saturday’s activity as a special one, generally involving the Ministry of Health.

“This time it’s special as we went to an organisation which concerns all our clients. We work with specific units of the Ministry of Health, for example we have adopted the North East Point Old People’s Home. But today we wanted to make it something general, in a strategic point where members of the public can get easy access,” Mr Servina explained.

Mr Servina also revealed that his company’s community actions will continue, and has announced a nationwide blood drive as the next joint activity with the Ministry of Health.
