Planning body boosts relations with partners |02 December 2013

                   Mr Dogley addressing the meeting

In its effort to strengthen the working relationship it has with its partners and licensed agents, the Seychelles Planning Authority organised a workshop to discuss with them various aspects of their work and also bring to their attention concerns raised by the public.

The workshop was held recently under the theme ‘Sustainable Development’.

The chairperson of the Seychelles Planning Authority, Didier Dogley, said in remarks to launch the discussions that Seychelles has gained a lot of recognition as a small state for the quality of its development and has been commended for its effort made towards sustainable development.

“If that has been achieved it’s thanks to our concerted effort and as we move forward with more modern designs we need to keep that in mind as well as other issues and aspects related to development,” he said.

“We at the Planning Authority have over the past two years been looking at ways to improve services we provide. There are problems and there have been criticisms but we recognise that we need to work better together by strengthening our relationship so that all parties benefit from the services we offer,” he pointed out.

But he noted that services cannot be improved only at the Planning Authority level.

He said if we want to move forward and have real positive change we all need to improve the quality of our work.

Mr Dogley noted that professionalism is the core of everything -- the quality of services we provide, timeliness, objectivity and transparency in our work and services are all very important aspects which need to be focused on if we want to strengthen our working relationship and offer up to standard services and products to clients.

The chief executive of the Seychelles Planning Authority Gerard Hoareau made a presentation on the status of things at the authority, its relation with its partners and agents, efforts underway to promote sustainable development, challenges it is facing among other aspects of planning work.

Regular and similar meetings are expected to be held on a regular basis to assess progress made and address matters as they arise.
