Family Tribunal opens its door to the public |02 December 2013

Members of the public learning more about the Family Tribunal during the open day on Friday

As part of activities to mark its 15 years of existence, the Family Tribunal on Friday opened its doors to the public with members of its staff available to answer people’s question and clarifications.

Josette Thelermont, the secretary to the Family Tribunal, said the open day had been organised to further educate and inform members of the public on what  the work of the tribunal entails.

“It is an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions as the staff are there to answer their queries and clarify any issues they may have,” said Ms Thelermont.

She said apart from information and statistics available for the public to see, staff were also giving away information leaflets and a newsletter published for the occasion.

“The public could also get information on the procedures to follow when registering a case with the tribunal, what a person has to do after receiving a summon to appear before the tribunal and what happens when an order is not respected,” added Ms Thelermont.

She noted that they are placing a lot of emphasis on why it is important for people to maintain and respect their appointments with the tribunal.
