Seychelles moves up in Corruption Perception Index rankings |10 December 2013

Seychelles has moved up to 47th place in the ‘Corruption Perceptions Index’ (CPI) rankings compiled on an annual basis by Transparency International.

This is an improvement from last year, where Seychelles was ranked 51st.

This new position means that Seychelles is one of the least corrupt countries in the African region, in third place after Botswana and Cape Verde.

The CPI’s criteria for classification is based on the perceived levels of public sector corruption in the ranked countries.

This year the Index ranked 177 countries and territories on a scale from 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean).

It is important to note that no country has received a perfect score, and two-thirds of countries score below 50 (Seychelles has received a score of 54 and is as such in the highest percentile)
