Another successful edition of DSA’s international bazaar |11 December 2013

Each year, the Diplomatic Spouses’ Association (DSA) of Seychelles organises at least two activities in order to raise funds for a charitable cause. One of them is the international bazaar which is held before Christmas at the National Library in Victoria.

The 4th successive edition of the bazaar was held on Saturday and attracted the participation of expatriates from countries like India, England, Russia, Sri Lanka and Italy. They were joined by various local businesses and individuals and offered the public products such as clothes, shoes, books, ice cream, cakes, Christmas cards, souvenir items as well as cooked food and drinks.

According to a representative of the DSA, Lalita Mayadas, the large crowd which visited the stands all through the day shows the success of the activity and how much it has become popular.

“Like for the previous years, the turnout has been just extraordinary with a lot of people. Everybody has been so busy,” she said.

She added that the association has not yet decided what projects to finance with the proceeds and will meet at the beginning of next year to do so.

She however believes that like last year, they will support a community project in the health or education sector.

Mrs Mayadas has thanked the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the Department of Community Development for their logistics support.

She hopes that the partnership will again be renewed next year for the 5th edition of the DSA’s international bazaar.
