‘Christmas with the stars’ musical show this evening |13 December 2013

“The true spirit of Christmas can only prevail when you reach out to others and say thank you.”

It was with these humble words that Alain St Ange, the Minister for Tourism and Culture, explained on Seychelles Broadcasting Cooperation live radio show Lanbyans Tropikal the idea behind Seychelles’ first 'Christmas with the stars' show.

“We’ve staged the show for all Seychellois. It’s a unique Christmas gift that we wholeheartedly give to all the Seychellois public, to our young children and to all our families. The Ministry of Tourism and Culture will continue to strive so that every Seychellois become part and parcel of our annual national events,” Minister St Ange said.

On open microphone with SBC’s presenter Jules Hoareau, Minister St Ange hailed the spirit of sharing demonstrated by businessmen from Seychelles and overseas who have rallied behind the success of the ‘Christmas with the stars’ show.

“It’s heartening to witness the positive feedback that we’ve received from businessmen and our international partners. They’ve been more than willing to financially contribute to this show. Giving out to others without asking for anything in return is such a noble gesture. The support we have received encourages us to do even more for Seychelles,” noted Minister St Ange.

With final touches being put to the show, the Ministry of Tourism and Culture promises the staging of a Christmas show with a difference.

“Seychelles will witness the show of the year. We’ve put a zip line were some of the stars will glide in to make their entrance on stage. The effects of snowflakes will be produced by a special machine brought in Seychelles and sprayed throughout the performance creating the perfect imagery of a white Christmas. While the stars will warm your hearts with old and new Christmas hits, goodies will be given out to children. I urge all families to come down to Victoria and take home the spirit of Christmas,” Minister St Ange said.

Culture principal secretary Benjamine Rose, who was also invited on the show with Minister St Ange, said ‘Christmas with the stars’ show is the ideal thank you gift from the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to all Seychellois.

“The car park of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture will transform into an open air family fun fair with the atmosphere of Christmas,” said Ms Rose.

Minister St Ange took the opportunity to send out his message for all businessmen to decorate their shops during this festive season and bring an additional Christmas ambience in Victoria.
He also thanked all Seychellois for being supportive of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture’s annual events.

“If we’ve make it throughout the year it’s thanks to your support. Alone we would not have been able to make this extra mile with our annual events. A special thank you goes to local print media and audio and visual media. You’ve been our faithful partners in these carnivals, festivals and other national events and your efforts deserve to be commended,” Minister St Ange said.

‘Christmas with the stars’ is a free concert which will take place from 6.15pm today in front of the National Cultural Centre (National Library building).
