They are from a group of 15 individuals who have served long years in the Ministry of Education, Seychelles Ports Authority (SPA), Ministry of Health and the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA).

From the education sector are Cecile Boniface (40 years), Anne-Marie Belmont (29 years), Marie-Thérèse Romain (38 years), Anne Nicole (35 years), Marie-Thérèse Elizabeth (43 years), Marie-Paulette Naiken (47 years), Lucia Samson (45 years), Daisita Kilindo (43 years), Jeanne D’Arc Rose (46 years) and Giselle Tirant (47 years).

The other old-timers are Leonard Charles from the SPA who has clocked 39 years of service, Jean Mathiot, Sista Clothilde and Evadne Labrosse who have all served for 42 years at the SCAA and Sylvette Evenor from the health ministry who have spent 41 years there.

Also present at yesterday’s ceremony held at State House were principal secretary in the Office of the Vice-President Jeanne Simeon, chief secretary for Public Service Jessie Esparon and principal secretary for education Merida Delcy.

VP Faure presented each worker with a little token as a gesture of appreciation for their long years of service and loyalty towards their job.

Talking to the press, Mrs Evenor said there has been a lot of a development in the health sector where she worked.

She added that the reason she has stayed in this sector is because she has enjoyed working in the health ministry.

Mrs Naiken said she will take time to enjoy her days of retirement at home, adding that she will have more time now for activities she loves.
