Santa flies to Maia to bring gifts and cheer to orphans |26 December 2013

Most kids never get to see Santa Claus when he comes to pay them a visit on Christmas Eve.

A group of children from the President’s Village did see Santa on Christmas day, yesterday, at the Maia, but he did not come on a sleigh like he usually does. Maybe it was because all of his reindeers were sick or tired after delivering the many gifts to all the children who have been good during the year.

Yesterday, Santa Clause arrived at the Maia resort in a helicopter to give the President’s Village children their presents.

This is the third year the Maia resort, in partnership with Zil Air, brings joy to the children of the President’s village.

The presentation of the gifts was done at the helipad of the resort. There were 54 children and 10 resort guests. As the resort has adopted the President’s Village the children and staff of the orphanage were introduced to the new management team.

After receiving their presents the children were taken to the lounge to enjoy snacks that had been prepared by the resort especially for them. To top their joy and happiness was a big cake decorated with candy waiting for them in the lounge.

It was Kimberly Larue who had the honour to cut the cake alongside Maia resort general manager Ernst Ludick.

Apart for making the children’s Christmas a good one, Maia resort also caters for their birthdays. Once a month, the resort provides the President’s Village with a big birthday cake to celebrate the kids’ birthdays.

The children were truly happy. “I’ve been really good this year and Santa has a gift for me in his bag.” one of the boys said.

Giving and sharing during the festive season does make a difference and does put a smile on the children’s faces.
