Champion is best cable tune selling artist |30 December 2013

Local discotheque Tequila Boom looked like a mad house on Friday night. The nightclub was packed with crazed fans who had come to witness the 3rd Vibes Cable Tune Awards show.

Vibes is a Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) musical local programme sponsored by the Cable & Wireless Cable Tune. Friday was the finale whereby the best artists were rewarded. Those who were not present in the Tequila Boom could follow the award live on SBC television.

The host for the evening was no other than Patrick Hoareau who is the Vibes programme presenter on SBC.

In between the presentation of awards the evening was interspersed by performances from the nominees such as Travis, T-Trey, Jahkim and many others.

Most of the results were based on the vote that came via the programme throughout the year.

The Best collaboration award went to Reggie and Extra with the song Trespas, as Donn ou Bal sung by Jahkim won the Best Single.

KJ and Xtra won the awards for the Best duo/group with their song Ma pe cal ou. Best female artist was Telcy and for the male the award went to Jahkim.

New this year was the award for the best video clip. Instead of the artist winning the prize it was the producer who made the clip that took home the prize. And the best producer for the best video clip went to Gilmer Peter Philoe with Donn ou bal video clip. As Mr Philoe was the director for the night’s show, his prizes were collected by Liza Memée, one of his colleagues.

The award that many were waiting to see who will grab it was the Best-selling artist for cable tune. Before Mr Hoareau announced the winner the crowd already shouted who they thought the winner was; and most were shouting out the name Champion ... And indeed Champion was the winner of the Best-selling artist. As Champion was not in the Country his cousin Jude Constance accepted his prizes.

Talking to Seychelles Nation via Facebook Champion said: “I feel good upon receiving the good news, but to tell you the truth I am not surprised as every album I have made has done well on the market. Music is my work and I really love what I do. And this proves that people, my fans and Seychellois in general love my work.”

All the winners got prizes sponsored by Cable & Wireless, Air Seychelles, Trois Frères Distilleries and ISPC Seychelles.

The artist and those who were present celebrated after the show in the after party at Tequila Boom.
