Sepec treats Au Cap elders to lunch |30 December 2013
It rained heavily on Saturday and driving from the Seychelles Nation office to Au Cap district brought back memories of the January flood. The difference was upon arriving at the district’s home for the elderly, instead of seeing a mess the home’s common room was decorated and festive season music filled the air.
The joy and celebration was due to a lunch organised by the management and social committee of Seychelles Petroleum Company Limited (Sepec) in an outreach to the community that they serve.
“This activity gives us at Sepec a chance to give back, closer connect to, and brighten your day. It is also a chance to show our appreciation to you who have contributed to the building up of the community and our country, especially after the unfortunate ordeal as a result of the flooding earlier this year,” Sepec’s human resources manager Sharon Pool told the residents in the presence of member of National Assembly for Au Cap Murielle Marie, district administrator Doris Esther, staff of the Home of the Elderly and Sepec staff.
Mrs Pool took the chance to present the residents and staff with a gift as a token of appreciation. She also presented a gift to Ms Marie and Ms Esther.
“In the name of our central committee member, Professor Rolph Payet, who is unable to be with us today, I would like to thank Sepec for this initiative and we hope and recommend that Sepec adopts this event as an annual activity,” Hon. Marie said.
After lunch was served, the residents and all those present showed off their dancing skills.
“I am really enjoying myself, dancing is a way of exercising. We never thought that we will get such a treat,” one female resident said.
