The first baby to be born in 2014 was delivered at the Seychelles Hospital at 5.40am on New Year’s Day  weighing 2kg.

Christelle William gave birth to a baby girl who was due to be born on January 16.

The proud mother said she is very happy because now her seven-year-old son Tim has a sister.

She added that she has already chosen a name for her baby which is Jihanne.

The other baby to be born on New Year’s Day was the first born of Corinne Esther.

Miss Esther’s baby was due to be born on January 15 but came at 9.55am on New Year’s Day.

When Seychelles Nation talked to her, Miss Esther said she is happy with her wonderful New Year’s Day gift, adding that she has not yet chosen a name for her baby boy who weighed 3.2kg at birth.

The lucky babies have both received a R1,000 voucher from the Seychelles Commercial Bank with which their mothers will be able to open a savings account for them at the bank.

The two mothers have also received a hamper of goodies from the bank.
