Electricity supply restored on inner islands |07 January 2014

The Public Utilities Corporation (PUC) has said it has restored electricity supply to all the affected inner islands except Round Island.

All the inner islands, namely Cerf, Ste Anne, Round and Long, were without electricity since Sunday afternoon.

The PUC managed to restore electricity supply on two thirds of Cerf Island only by Sunday night.

During the course of yesterday, the PUC sent its teams to investigate both on land and at sea to localise the problem.

Electricity supply was restored on Ste Anne at noon and around 4.30pm yesterday, the fault on the undersea cable was confirmed.

The necessary repair works will be planned and the situation resolved over the coming days.
