Seychelles tourism joins digital highway |08 January 2014

Luring visitors to Seychelles is the core business of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) and to increase the numbers it has decided to revamp its website.

As of this year, visitors to the STB website will have a cleaner and more attractive page informing them of Seychelles as a holiday destination as well as help them plan their holiday here.

The board has already laid the groundwork to make the website a reality through the many conferences and workshops its representatives attended last year.

The trainings have helped to give STB representatives the knowledge needed to kick-start the project.

The latest step in the STB project to increase its online visibility was when the board’s chief executive Sherin Naiken signed a contract with Impart Media’s director Bryan Frawley.

Prior to signing the agreement, the STB had tendered out the project to redevelop its current website – a bid which Impart Media won.

The STB has signed the agreement with the Australian branch of Impart Media – a company that focuses on digital tourism solutions and strategies.

Following discussions with STB representatives as to what the board would like to feature on its page, the digital marketing plan’s first phase is now well under way.

STB’s manager of E-marketing Vahid Jacob has explained that this will increase the board’s digital presence and better promote Seychelles through online advertising, social media campaigns, mobile applications, online targeting and digital brochures.

“The New Destination website promises to have a completely new and much more vibrant and user friendly layout. With such features as an online image and video library, it will be available in several languages,” he added.

However, the STB also plans to revamp its corporate website which provides details to those more interested in the board’s business aspects. According to Mr Jacob, the New Destination website will be ready by March whereas the corporate one will be available by May.
