First fatal accident recorded for 2014 |10 January 2014

The police have reported its first fatal road accident for 2014 after Kenneth Louise, a 40-year-old man of Corgate Estate was hit by a van in the Mont Fleuri district last night.

Mr Louise died in the early hours of yesterday at the Seychelles Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit where he was admitted with fractured ribs, hip and severe injuries to the head.

The accident occurred in the vicinity of Kan Gard when the van, which was being driven by a 37-year-old male driver, was coming down from Belvedere road.
 
Mr Louise was first hit then trapped under the van.

Emergency aid from Fire and Rescue Services Agency was needed to retrieve him from where he was trapped.

The driver of the van who reported the incident at the Mont Fleuri police station at 8.10pm is being detained while the investigation continues to establish the real facts of this case.

The police have also reported that an 18-year-old man has been admitted to the d’Offay ward after his car lost control opposite the Animal feed factory last night.

He has reported that he was trying to avoid a collision with another vehicle.

The driver’s condition has been described as stable.
