Audit manager gets international recognition |16 January 2014

Audit manager Helen Hoareau has been accredited as a facilitator for the International Standards of Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAI).

This came about after she successfully completed training in the ISSAI Certification Programme in Financial Audit.

She received her facilitator certificate from Auditor General Marc Benstrong in a short ceremony last week in the latter’s office.

The ISSAI certification programme is a comprehensive capacity development programme launched by the IDI (INTOSAI Development Initiative) in partnership with the AFROSAI-E to support the implementation of ISSAI in Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs).

The Seychelles Audit Office was selected in August 2012 to be part of the programme and Mrs Hoareau was nominated for the ISSAI Certification Programme in Financial Audit.

The objective of the programme is to create a pool of ISSAI facilitators who will, among others, (i) help their own SAIs and other SAIs in the regions in carrying out various ISSAI implementation activities; and (ii) develop a web-based knowledge forum for knowledge sharing on ISSAI implementation in the INTOSAI community.

Presenting the certificate to Mrs Hoareau, Mr Benstrong said she has brought pride to the office on her achievement as Seychelles is among one of a few countries that took part in the programme.

Mrs Hoareau has attributed her success to hard work and perseverance and is encouraging her work colleagues to take up such opportunities when they arise in the future.
