New edition of Elite magazine back |24 January 2014

Elite magazine 2014 issue is out and as from next week copies will be distributed here.

The glossy magazine is widely popular and very much sought after among tourists and locals alike.

This year’s issue comprises interviews with ambassadors and high commissioners resident in Seychelles. The interviews cover the lives and careers of the individuals and talk about their work overseas and in Seychelles.

The diplomats featured in this year’s pages of Elite are British high commissioner Lindsay Skoll, Indian high commissioner Thanglura Darlong, French ambassador Genevieve Iancu and Chinese ambassador Shi Zhongjun.

In addition, the 2014 edition embraces the success stories of many entrepreneurs and high ranked job holders. Starting with the impressive life story of Lise Bastienne (secretary general of the executive office of the President), then flowing into a multinational company with Vikram Sinha from Airtel who believes that “The future is today”.

Elite continues with Pravin Darad who talks about the way to success from Le Relax Hotels, and goes on to highlight Flavien Joubert as a visionary hotelier, who is currently running the Seychelles Tourism Academy.

Finally we have William Rose, story of a self-made man (sailor and ship builder) and an article on the expansion of Seychelles Trading Corporation (STC).

The magazine shows diversity in its fashion filled pages, drawing attention to Karine Dupouy, designer of KanKan, the haute couture of Seychelles, lighting the pages with her breathtaking designs.

Other art displayed include the works of Tom Bowers (sculptor) who had previously been in the glossy pages of Elite, and Patrick Mavros (silver sculptor) of unique jewelry and home ware.

Culture and cuisine is emphasised in Italy and Seychelles, covering Francesco Apreda in “Apreda at imago” an Italian art/culinary catalogue, Nicola Farinetti in “Eataly the culture of food”, and an outline of must see destinations in Italy such as thermal springs and the Verona arena.

As for Seychelles, named as one of the Vanilla islands of the Indian Ocean, its culture and cuisine are celebrated in an article about Marie-Antoinette Restaurant, the Creole tradition.

Meanwhile also published alongside the glossy magazine is the Jollypress guide book and tourist map all updated with new features.

An interesting thing about the guide book is that the Chinese language has been included for the first time in this issue.

20,000 copies are published and distributed in Seychelles to four and five-star hotels  and tourist offices and around the world and the same applies to the map of which 150, 000 copies are issued every year.
