Two accident victims remain in ICU as police investigation progresses |07 February 2014

The police have reported that the man and the lady who were hit by a car on the highway in the vicinity of the Seychelles International Airport in the early hours of Saturday February 1 are still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while another of their colleague is recuperating on the ward.

Meanwhile the driver of the car who hit the three persons – a police officer who was off duty at the time of the accident – has also been discharged from hospital and been suspended from performing police duties pending investigation.

At the time of reporting on the accident, the police said that the three victims were passengers in a pick-up that was involved in an accident in the very same place and had stayed behind awaiting the pick up to be removed as its driver was arrested. Investigation carried out however has established that the three victims of the car accident were not around at the time of the pick-up accident.

Investigation has revealed that it was after the wife (lady in ICU) learned that her husband had been involved in an accident that she and some friends took to the scene to assess the situation and to assist with the removal of the pick-up, only to be hit later by the car.

The police have said that the investigation is progressing well in that case.
