Asycuda World: Agents get tips on how to improve clearing system |17 February 2014

Clearing agents involved with the customs clearing system Asycuda World met Minister for Finance, Trade and Investment Pierre Laporte last week whereby they were presented with recommendations on how to better their system and services.

During the meeting, a presentation of recommendations from a recent visit to Mauritius by a delegation of clearing agents, customs representatives and other partners were presented.

The visit has allowed the Seychelles delegation to learn from the Mauritian side and to use these to improve on the areas of weaknesses.

Mr Laporte said there has been an improvement with the use of the Asycuda World, but still there are certain difficulties which persist.

He added that the main objective is to find ways to improve the clearing of merchandise and goods.

Also present in the meeting was assistant commissioner of the Customs Division Selwyn Knowles.

Mr Knowles described it as a fruitful visit and said the Seychelles delegation has learned a lot which can be used to boost up our system.
