Miss Seychelles ... Another World 2014 |18 February 2014

Contestants in media glare for the first time

Organisers, sponsors and partners of the Miss Seychelles ... Another World 2014, as well as members of the media, had the chance to officially meet the 12 contestants who will take part in this year’s beauty pageant.

A cocktail was hosted by Le Meridien Fisherman’s Cove on Sunday evening, where the girls introduced themselves to those who were attending the event.

Present at the event were Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St Ange, principal secretaries for tourism Anne Lafortune, culture Benjamine Rose and for youth Alain Volcère, chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) Sherin Naiken and deputy chief Nathalie Didon, as well as partners and sponsors.

Miss Seychelles ... Another World 2013 Agnes Gerry and her two princesses Lindy Barallon and Isha Hoareau and general manager of Le Meridien Fisherman’s Cove, Wael Rashed, were also present.

Speaking at the event, Mr St Ange said there is a need to put the beauty pageant contestants in the forefront, make them ambassadors and showcase our people to the world, and in so doing promote our country.

Mr St Ange said during this year’s carnival, the girls will be put at the forefront and will be seen by the largest panel of journalists that has ever landed in our country.

“You will be seen and this will be a chance for you all to create your own image and showcase your own personality,” he added.

Mr St Ange thanked all those who have partnered with STB and sponsors who are ready to help make this event a success.

Miss Naiken said the girls are already winners as they have made it to the final 12 out of the group of 23.

She told the girls to seize the chance that they will be given, to enjoy the journey throughout the three months.

Miss Naiken added that this will be a time for them to grow personally and professionally.

She also had words of thanks to the partners and sponsors of the Miss Seychelles ... Another World beauty pageant.

Congratulating the 12 girls, Miss Gerry told them to support each other on this journey which she said they will surely enjoy.

“To the next Miss Seychelles ... Another World, I will tell you to carry the crown and not to let the crown carry you,” she said.

Speaking to the media, one of the members of the jury who have selected the 12 girls, Nigel Henri, said the contestants this year are very intelligent and speaks the three national languages fluently.

Mr Henri said the projects that the girls have presented forward and are working on are very interesting as there are a variety of topics such as social ills, environment and helping the less fortunate ones in society.

Out of the 23 girls who had come forward, nine are from Praslin.

The 12 contestants are: Camilla Estico, Lisa Rose, Elmina Savy, Marvel Godley, Christa Joubert, Michaella Rosette, Melissa Pool, Raphaela Dugasse, Anabelle Pointe, Ronda Sidonie, Stephanie Duval and Fiorella Cedras.
