Semifinalists known
The selection committee of the Airtel Music Awards Seychelles have revealed the names of the semifinalists in seven of the eight categories.
The organisers released the names yesterday in the following categories – Best male recording artist of year, Best female recording artist of year, Best new recording artist of the year, Best group or duet recording artist/s of the year, Best song recording of the year, Best traditional recording artist of the year and Best instrumental album of the year.
The eighth category is People’s Choice award which is done through SMS. Honorary awards will also be given out on the night of the ceremony on Saturday March 1 at the International Conference Centre.
The jury panel comprising music followers and professionals will now choose the finalists.
The jury panel has been set up by the Airtel Music Awards Seychelles and the identity of its members will remain confidential so as to maintain the credibility of the awards.
The award is now called Airtel Music Awards Seychelles after telecommunications company Airtel signed a five-year sponsorship agreement with the Music Awards committee last week.
